Tactical Formation Study 1: Mera Explorer Daily Challenge
Daily Challenges are great for us to practice tactical placements for free (no food required even if you lost your own challenge). Do keep trying!
Let us take a look at the battlefield below:
The daily challenge adopts a tight formation with defenders protecting their artilleries pretty well - it is impossible to immediately flank any of the artilleries right from the start.
Let us adopt a tight formation with the five beginning heroes. Our goal is to take out the MD (h4) fast in order to reach the MA (i4). In order to do this, we need to concentrate fire on this MD (h4) with at least three of our heroes.
Nestor excels at flanking and therefore is placed on c5 to flank the MD (h4). Zeph supports Nestor's flank by being a target for the MD (h4). Otherwise, the MD will simply target Nestor and Nestor loses his flank bonus damage. Demetra provides fire support to bring down this MD down. On top of that, her ability could also pierce through the MD to reach the MA behind.
The weakness of our tight formation is that we have to depend heavily on poor Leandros, our physical defender, to survive MEG (i3) + MA (j3) + MD (h2) triple assault. Rexenor is strategically placed behind Leandros to give Leandros the lifesteal ability (do upgrade Rexenor's lifesteal ability and add lifesteal runes for him). Leandros may be susceptible to all the magic damage, but he is the fastest defender in terms of attack speed and having lifesteal would help him last just long enough for this comrades to flank MA (h4), followed by MEG and MA (h2).
Do try the above logic and decison-making processes when fielding your first 5 heroes on the battlefield so that you have better awareness of what to look out for before the battle begins.
